Charities

I have been a volunteer member of several boards going back to 2018, and enjoy the opportunity the volunteering experience provides for serving important causes and communities. Here is a short list of the charities with which I have been involved.

Mount Athos Foundation of America (MAFA)

MAFA is the leading American charity devoted to sustaining the living heritage of Greece’s Byzantine-era monasteries of Mount Athos, its monks and the scholars who study the Holy Mountain.

I joined the board of MAFA in 2018, and originally served as the committee chairman for the Website Committee, and as a member on the Grants Administration Committee. I remain a member of both today, and have made several contributions to content creation, editing, and scholarships/grants review. I also continue to serve in a liaison capacity with MAFA’s sister charity in the UK, the Friends of Mount Athos (FOMA).

Most recently, in September 2026, I undertook a new task at the request of MAFA’s president, to oversee the foundation’s first intern, a student from the Hellenic College of the Holy Cross in Brookline, MA.

Friends of Mount Athos (FOMA)

Established in 1990, FOMA is the world’s leading membership organization dedicated to the Holy Mountina, enjoying the royal patronage of King Charles III.

Lions Club International

In 2026, I became a member of the Lion’s Club International, the worldwide service organization established in 1918.

Friends of the Stow Council on Aging

In 2026, I became a volunteer board member of the Stow Friends of the Council on Aging, which helps raise funds and promote the work of the local COA in Stow, MA.
