Celebrating James Joyce’s 141st Birthday on My Substack Newsletter

Yesterday, 2 February 2023, marked the 141st birthday of great Irish writer James Joyce.

It also marked the 101st anniversary of the publication of his masterpiece, Ulysses.

I have recalled the influence Joyce had on my writing style and feeling in a short essay published on my new Substack newsletter, the Traveller’s Literary Supplicant. The article, ‘What I learned from James Joyce,’offers a short reflection on my literary debt to the great writer- and also a travel tip for visitors to Dublin wishing to spy on a rare first edition of his masterpiece while enjoying a drink in a cozy, well-kept setting.

The newsletter is now open for both free and paid subscriptions, and I will be grateful to all who check it out. The theme of “Irish Literature” will be covered throughout February, before a new theme is explored in March.
