2 Mystery Readers Journal publishes My Post on Travel Writing in the Mystery Genre

On 21 May 2025, Mystery Readers Journal published my short article, ‘Cultivating that Old Sense of Place’ in its blog, Mystery Fanfare.What value can travel writing and journalism bring as background or contextual coloring for the writing of mystery and adventure stories? Here, I draw on my own professional experience in these fields and discuss some favorites in the field, citing examples like Edgar Allan Poe and Dorothy L. Sayers, to make the case for why these peripheral types of writing enhance genre fiction.
